FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Quick answers about calculators, reporting, standards, and safety assumptions.

Tools
- How accurate are the calculators?
- They follow published formulas and checks, but inputs and assumptions are yours. Verify against your standards.
- How does the calculation engine work?
- The calculation engine does not make free-form guesses; it runs deterministic formulas and table logic derived from sources such as ISO, DIN, and VDI. Input checks, step explanations, and reference notes support review, while final validation remains your engineering responsibility.
- Are the default values real?
- Defaults are example values to get you started. Replace them with your project data.
- Why do I see validation warnings?
- Warnings flag out-of-range inputs, missing units, or inconsistent selections.
- Can I share a calculation with my team?
- Use Share & Report to generate a link or download a PDF summary.
- Do tools work offline?
- Most calculations run in the browser; reference content and updates need an internet connection.
Reporting
- What is included in the PDF report?
- Inputs, results, formula, assumptions, references, and any charts/diagrams generated by the tool.
- Can I export diagrams as images?
- Yes. Use the diagram export buttons to download PNG or SVG for reports.
- Is my report stored on your servers?
- No. Reports are generated locally in your browser unless explicitly shared.
- Can I edit the report template?
- Not yet. We are working on customizable report layouts.
- How do I include a report in a project?
- Save the calculation to a project and open the report from the project view.
Standards
- Which standards are referenced?
- We reference commonly used ISO/DIN/ASME tables; each tool lists sources in its notes.
- Are standards always up to date?
- We update periodically, but you should verify the latest revision for critical work.
- Do you provide full standards text?
- No. We only show derived tables and summaries; purchase the official standard for full detail.
- What if a standard is missing?
- Send a request via Support or the tool request form.
- How are material properties chosen?
- Typical room-temperature values from handbooks and standards; confirm with supplier data.
Units
- Which unit systems are supported?
- Metric is primary; some tools offer imperial options.
- How does unit conversion work?
- Values are converted via base units with fixed factors; rounding is for display only.
- Why do I see unit mismatch errors?
- The formula output unit does not match the expected unit. Check inputs and symbols.
- Can I mix units?
- Use consistent units in a tool; convert first using the Unit Converter.
- What about significant digits?
- We display rounded values, but calculations use full precision.
Safety & Disclaimer
- Is this a certified engineering tool?
- No. It is a decision aid; you remain responsible for final design.
- Can I use results for safety-critical designs?
- Use as a preliminary check and validate with standards and a licensed engineer.
- How should I cite the results?
- Include the tool name, version/date, inputs, assumptions, and references in your report.
- Do you store my calculations?
- Saved calculations live in your browser only; use private mode for sensitive work.
- Who is liable for design decisions?
- You are responsible for verifying outputs and compliance.
